§ 17-3. General powers and duties of director of city-county health district

  • (a) The director of the Paris-Lamar County Health District shall be in complete charge of the activities of such district and shall direct its personnel. He shall have authority to employ, discharge, and transfer any and all personnel under his direction as provided in the merit system rule of the state department of health.

    (b) The director of the Paris-Lamar County Health District shall administer and enforce all ordinances of the City pertaining directly to health and sanitation, all laws of the state pertaining thereto, and all rules and regulations of the state board of health made in accordance with the provisions of state law.

    (c) The director of the Paris-Lamar County Health District shall be responsible to the city manager, the county judge and the state department of health. He shall make monthly reports to the Paris-Lamar County Board of Health, the city manager, the county judge, and the state health officer.
